Arlington is now ranked as one of the most educated cities in the US. Working professionals; government employees and students who have their residences at Arlington have contributed immensely to its economic development. The city also caters to the needs of the ever increasing student population of Arlington and Washington DC who come from all parts of the world. This has contributed to a high demand for Arlington real estate.
The Orange Blue and Yellow lines of the Washington Metro serve Arlington. It is also served by the commuter rail Virginia Railway express, the regional public bus Metro bus, and a local public bus system; Arlington Transit.
Arlington County is crisscrossed by two interstate highways, interstate 66 in the northern part of the county and interstate 395 in the southern part, both with high occupancy vehicle lanes or restrictions in addition to multi lane urban arterial roads.
Ample opportunities for fresh air exercise are provided by Arlington’s numerous off-road bicycle trails, all of which travel along the Potomac river. One of these trails, the Mount Vernon trail runs for 17 miles along the Potomac, continuing through Alexandria to George Washington’s plantation home.
Arlington has numerous planned housing complexes. Most of the housing options are cost effective and people looking towards houses for purchase or rent will find enough to satisfy them. Arlington County is also the place of the Arlington National Cemetery, the Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport and the Pentagon.
To reward the systematic and well planned expansion of Arlington the city was given an award for overall excellence in smart growth in 2002. Since then the real estate options in Arlington have diversified and their real value is expected to increase in the near future.
